Passenger Trains > Yesterday's Interesting Southwest ChiefDate: 05/09/24 13:47 Yesterday's Interesting Southwest Chief Author: NMlurker The westbound Southwest Chief that originated in Chicago on 5-7-24 featured the 50th Anniversary Phase I heritage unit #161, Operation Lifesaver unit #203, and two refurbished coaches for Metrolink service in SoCal, and rolled through New Mexico on 5-8-24.
1. Amtrak train #3 splits a pair of searchlight signals near MP 799 just east of Ribera, NM running about 45 minutes late. Date: 05/09/24 18:56 Re: Yesterday's Interesting Southwest Chief Author: AndyBrown Nice one! At an obscure location too, also nice.
Andy Date: 05/10/24 12:38 Re: Yesterday's Interesting Southwest Chief Author: NCA1022 I managed to luck out and catch this same Amtrak train as is ripped thru Downers Grove, IL on the sfternoon of 5/8. To make things even better, the Metra Heritage Burlington-inspiried locomotive was on one of the scoots I saw that same afternoon (second unit, but still!)
So 3 Heritage paint schemes in the same 3-hour railfanning window. Made dodging the sporadic showers totally worthwhile! - Norm |
