Passenger Trains > Train #4(1) Mechanical FailureDate: 09/02/24 19:18 Train #4(1) Mechanical Failure Author: illini73 Southwest Chief #4 departing Los Angeles on 9/1 spent two hours each in Winslow, AZ; Gallup, NM and Albuquerque due to "mechanical issues". Now on the move 8 hours late. Apparently a freight engine (BNSF 5362) was added at Winslow. Original power was 175 and 190. There may have been another engine change at Albuquerque - it's hard to tell from the euphemistic and somewhat cryptic Amtrak delay reports, but #3(1) had some equipment "removed from the trainset" and #4(1) had "an engine added to the trainset" about two hours later.
