Passenger Trains > Suffern NY to Hoboken NJ front seat ride

Suffern New York is just over the NJ/NY state line and is the traditional end of commuter service out of Hoboken.  Several trains continue to Middletown and Port Jervis NY and all are over historically Erie Railroad track.

1.  Among the trainsets quietly laying over the long Labor Day weekend was the NJT Armed Forces decorated unit, the 4502.

2. Train 73 en route to Port Jervis NY passes through with GP40PH 4906 in the lead.

3. Train 76 from Port Jervis arrived on time and finding the cab car open I headed up to the front seat for the trip.

Thanks to the engineer who left the doors open I was able to get a quasi-cab ride on the trip via the Bergen County Line to Hoboken.

10.  The trackwork at West End Interlocking.  The former Lackawanna electrified main comes in from the right.

11. Ducking under Tonnelle (pronounced tunnel-E) Ave. and about to go over the old Erie tracks and into the tunnels under the Palisades.

12.  Exiting the tunnel into Hoboken.

13.  Threading through the yard trackage.

14.  We were held here to allow this departing train to clear the plant.

15.  Arriving on track 6 at the Lackwanna Hoboken Terminal.  Hope you enjoyed the ride.  And it was free!!
