Passenger Trains > Fourth Amfleet coach on 98 this morning

On train 98 at Ashland, Va this morning There was a fourth coach up front.  I am not certain it was occupied as it was nearing sunup, so it was impossible to detect interior lighting.  Normally, coacches that are being ferried north ride behind the baggage car at the rear of the train.  

Has Amtrak explanced capacity on 97/98 or is this an anomoly?
 

Both the Star and Meteor have been running with 4 coaches for much of the Summer. It is about this time a year they cut back to 3 coaches.

When they have to scrape up a 5th Meteor train set in November, then we'll count cars. 

What is happening to the Meteor in November?

My bad, Silver Star, diverted northward from Washington to Chicago.

Trying to ruin a perfectly good train.

I understand the consternation of some with the Star/Capitol combo.  I am willing to see how it goes.  It could be that it works well.  And the Star has a civil arrival time in DC in both directions, making connections from Boston to DC is pretty easy.  I sometimes change there from the Meteor as it is.  It could be good.  It could be terrible.  Let's see.

That may have just happened!  I saw the southbound at Ashland just now with only three coaches.
