Taking the northbound Eagle today from Fort Worth

Here it is pulling into the station after leaving San Antonio about 7 hours ago. I assume they don't wash this train anywhere on the route

Lots of activity in FTW between 2 Eagles converging and the Heartlanf flyer laying over with some private cars in the yard.  In addition there are many commuter trains and airport expresses

You can SMELL THEM before you seen them. Honestly, when was the last time the crappers were cleaned out on these things?

Great posting.  Thank you.  Your photos and videos illustrate what we deal with every day with the Texas Eagle.  With no washing in Chicago, the train runs just as you show it.  The photo from your room/seat says it all.  The filth is a disgrace.  Also note that while train #22 northbound pulls into the station, train #21 is positioned three blocks south of the Fort Worth terminal, next to the former Santa Fe station.  Long walk with no cover.   Station personnel provide a ride out to those who need it, but with limited staff, most people make the long trek.  Note also the obvious lack of a lounge car.  The train offers four tables in the tiny food counter side of the diner/lounge.  Announcements are made that you can sit there if you are consuming food, but you must return to your seat as soon as you finish.  No laptops, games, our leisure space allowed/provided.  The southbound train has two sleepers and three chair cars for the California connection.  There are lot of people on these trains, confined to their rooms and seats, no lounge and opaque, filthy windows.  I hope Mr. Harris was on the platform after his trip from Oklahoma City so he can see first hand the condition of service offered.

Please expand on that statement.
At one time I was a frequent visitor.
The trains used the ATSF station then.

Didn't the trains move to the MP station?
If so, why is 21 at the ATSF station ?

Amtrak never moved to the x-T&P station. Moved just north to something once named the "Alarm Supply Building" (or something like that). The TRE and TexRail use the former T&P station.

IMHO the powers that be should've overhauled the Santa Fe station (but that's just me).

An inter-modal station was built when Trinity Railway Express trains began running to Fort Worth, year 2001 or so.  The AT&SF station stands as a refurbished special events center.  You can see it on the right of the photo of train #21.  The Fort Worth Central Station is now the home of Amtrak, Greyhound, Subway, TRE and Texrail trains.  It stands about three blocks north of the the old Santa-Fe red brick building.  The Santa-Fe Freight House is now a part of the Texas A&M law school.  The Central Station only has three tracks.  The first one is for Texrail, the middle for TRE, and the third one is left for Amtrak.  The Heartland Flyer uses track 3.  Train #22 uses track 3 when it is available, or there is no switching or servicing of equipment.  Train #21 is orphaned to the south end of track two, three blocks south of the station, south of the switch that lines TRE and TEXRAIL trains to move south and west to the former Texas and Pacific Station on the south side of downtown Fort Worth.  If #22 needs to swap an engine or add/replace a car, or if the Flyer is late, it is relegated to the south end of track 3, again 3 blocks south of the terminal.

Unfortunately Mr Harris wasn't around to see the Eagles. I spoke with him briefly on the Heartland Flyer as he was busy on Zoom calls

dinner tonight was good as I had salmon and the lead attendant said it's their best bet

but the presentation was terrible !

here are a couple pictures

why does Amtrak put the sleeper behind the locomotive?  The horn is blaring!!

Your meal looks good, but entire service, sounds par for the mis-managed AMTRAK of these days!!

Answer - to annoy the piss out of 1st Class passengers
and punish them for patronizing an LD train.

Those pictures of your dining "experience" are a disgrace. Just when you think Amtrak can't sink any lower, they lower the bar again.

Amazingly, the train consist #'s haven't been changed on those two coaches!
The 31005 was the 413 car on #4 back in September!
The 34032 car was the 412 car back on October 14th into Chicago!

He probably was in a hurry to get a decent meal at a fine restaurant.

Thank you to Regalstream1516 and 41 for the explanations of the station situation.
My days at the station were when Ron Royce was the Amtrak Asst. Superintendent.
