Passenger Trains > Amtrak P42 #161 (Ph 1 heritage scheme) on Fire at Ivy CityDate: 11/26/24 06:05 Amtrak P42 #161 (Ph 1 heritage scheme) on Fire at Ivy City Author: DJLRailProductions P42 #161 (Phase 1 scheme) caught fire in Ivy City yards last night at about 23:00. Photos are from D.C.Fire Dept. 308 was ahead of 161 and sustained some minor damage.

It's a shame it couldn't have been the other way around, charger destroyed and 161 slightly damaged. I guess we get to see if Amtrak will try a third phase 1 heritage P42DC. Good thing they didn’t catch fire or they would have further delayed their inaugural run. Which is already 5 years past the announced date

If it doesn't go toward the exhaust it just makes smoke and stinks....if it does go toward the exhaust...that can be bad.
