Passenger Trains > Todays Cardinal into Chicago

Viewing the Lafayette Ind railcam this morning the Cardinal has it's extra holiday coach (3 not the normal 2) and it bringing some cars from Beech Grove.  There is an extra baggage car, a superliner coach, and a Dash 8 returning from the Grove.

Well, that's something. I guess. I think the Cardinal ran with 3 coaches pretty much year round not too long ago, didnt it?

Pre-COVID, yes. It's been two coaches ever since, for the most part. Pathetic.

51 - shuttle motor
504 - no visible changes
61029 - buffer
34045- refreshed superliner coach

Cardinal - 139, 25120, 25067, 25008, 28017, 62021, 69007

Engine 51 released with no external work. It’s been in The Grove for 3 weeks.

34045 is a coach that was formerly running in the Pacific Surfliner fleet. It's also been in Beech Grove for quite some time as I havent been able to chalk it up as seen since the beginning of the year. 

Was 34045 ever been or still has Surfliner livery ?

Weren't some of their Superliners renumbered, with the 2nd or 3rd digit turned into a 9 ?

It could have gone to Beech Grove for work and is returning to the Surfliner pool! They operated some Superliners that didn't have the Pacific Surfliner livery. 

When is that whole lease up with the Superliner cars that Amtrak has to California for added capacity on their corridor trains? If the Venture cars would be put into active service, that would likely help add even more capacity to those trains with Superliners - e.g. LD trains.
