Passenger Trains > Metra-Something Different Part 2Date: 01/09/25 15:29 Metra-Something Different Part 2 Author: kevink I had a heads up that Metra North Central train 114 was running over two hours late due to equipment issues and that the original train had been replaced with a Heritage Corridor set. This meant the locomotive would be on the inbound end of the train. Based on the time of the heads up, it seemed likely the train would arrive at Chicago Union Station right around 12:30 pm.
With this in mind, I headed to the Clinton Street crossing where I was rewarded with Metra MP36 #413 leading 114 to CUS at exactly 12:30 pm. Not sure there were many passengers on board due to being almost two hours late. Date: 01/09/25 15:38 Re: Metra-Something Different Part 2 Author: robj So many places like to catch that. Non

My move out of the hotel in Aurora was the very entertaining 0717 fast to downtown and then onto the 0827 to Manhattan. This allowed me to view the last arrival on the Heritage Corridor up from Joliet. Twice viewed, it was a pair of MPI’s (401+414). Last time I visited, the three Heritage services were in the hands of early numbered F40’s. I guess the MPI’s have been bumped off the MWD by the new Machs. Interestingly the power we had to Manhattan was ex UP engine 131! There are still MP36’s on the MD and NCS. I’ve seen 405 and 420 since the start of the year.
