Passenger Trains > Number 27 In The SnowDate: 01/09/25 18:55 Number 27 In The Snow Author: walstib A fresh dusting of snow greeted Amtrak 27 at Ritzville this morning.
The Portland-bound train was running about 2:41 off the advertised. This is the first time number 27 has been late enough to come through town in daylight in quite a while. Date: 01/09/25 18:58 Re: Number 27 In The Snow Author: Ritzville Very NICE! Was nice to wake up to a dusting of snow.
Larry Date: 01/09/25 19:05 Re: Number 27 In The Snow Author: walstib The snow surprised me.
I was going to head out and shoot the train somewhere, but I wanted to watch the Carter funeral. So I snapped a screen shot from the rail cam instead. Posted from iPhone Date: 01/10/25 06:47 Re: Number 27 In The Snow Author: CP8888 Two coaches to Portland but only one to Seattle??

Before COVID, the Seattle section always had two coaches and two sleepers. That's varied post-COVID, from one sleeper and one coach only, to two sleepers and two coaches, and then back to two sleepers and one coach. The Seattle section DEFINITELY needs a second coach. The Portland section post-COVID has often lost one if its Superliner coaches........Empire Builder used to be the strongest performer in passengers and revenue till Amtrak started playing around with the capacity constraints of passenger cars!!!!
