Passenger Trains > Senator Capito (R-WV) on daily CardinalDate: 01/24/25 15:36 Senator Capito (R-WV) on daily Cardinal Author: KurtBWNews You can watch the clip for yourself, but it's apparent Senator Shelly Moore Capito would like to see the Cardinal run daily -- if the service quality is there.

You have to wonder if that now is the general sense of Congress. Another item to watch in the next year. But I also feel if they were serious about running the service, they wouldn't keep cutting capacity and there'd be more serviceable cars (especially single level) out on the road. There's certainly still Viewliner Sleepers (with higher end revenue capability) and Diners not being used to full utilization; or a more aggressive plan to put said cars back to full service since COVID. It's just been too long for this to have continued.

Definitely not a > regular user You're not wrong -- but consider she's not following the issues with Am-management the way we do. I've followed Senator Capito's political career for roughly 25 years as part of my real-world job. On any number of occasions, I've seen stories about on group or another pitching her on daily Cardinal service. It's on her political radar; but to what extent, I'm not sure. Nice normal people hear about Amtrak service & head for the website. They might do a bit of online searching... head for the website to book... and discover, say, no Bedrooms available. I'd take Senator Capito at her word. Instead of flying or driving to DC, she sought to use Amtrak. Nothing she wanted to book was available. Constituents tell her of horrible service. She put 2 + 2 together to make a horribly looking 4. Not a surprise for those following such matters. |
