Amtrak jobs available in January 2025
Author: Lackawanna484

Amtrak has openings for conductors in many crew change points. Rensselaer, Kansas City, Albuquerque, Los Angeles, Miami, Indianapolis, Sacramento, Shelby, Seattle, Reno.  I guess they are setting up for another conductor class.

Electricians in Seattle, Sanford, Miami, Rensselaer, Los Angeles.  Pay range from $28 to $38 may not attract a lot of interest in Miami

Sheet metal workers with welding experience in Beech Grove. Haven't seen the welding req in years. Also, work at Rensselaer

En route cleaner in NYC. Works trains to and from NY, cleaning, mopping, attending to rest rooms, etc.  Have seen this poisition before.  At $26 plus benefits package, they may get some interest.

Fairly low starting wages for a big city, but most of these crafts only start at 75% of top rate. Then it is normally a 5 year progression to top rate. Good jobs if you can tolerate the toxic culture at Amtrak.

Competent people will run away from any job connected to the federal government now. If the goal is to break the government, success has already been acheived.

First of all Amtrak is not a government job

Second of all I think we need to give things a chance before we decided sucess in breaking the government was achieved. Maybe the government will be great again?

Beware! I know, from personal experience, that some Amtrak supervisors were/are sexual predators of all stripes. Amtrak, at least in the past. has ignored them and paid no attention to employee complaints. Even my Congresswomen couldn't be bothered!

Those rates may not attract a lot of interest in high-living-cost Seattle either, though there are cheaper suburbs.

Good response, Bill, but some people are blinded by their bias and rage.
Thanks for the correcting the "Misinformation." Sounds familiar.

Keeping this stuff in one place -  Did we ever establish whether there's a second shift of employees working at Beech Grove?

Even though they’re going to lose the Metrolink contract?
