Guide to all types of Amtrak cars
Author: dadonatrain

I envy the many of you who know how to recognize and distinguish each type of car Amtrak uses. I can’t keep track at all of all the amfleets and horizons and so forth. Is there a website that displays pictures and descriptions of all of them? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any sort of comprehensive visual directory on Amtrak’s website but I’m sure some of you would know if there’s something out there.

Wikipedia is a good place, they have a current list with links to the pages for each car which has additional pictures: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Amtrak_rolling_stock

Dave Warner updates On-Track On-Line on a monthly basis I recall .

Another fine source on Amtrak equipment, going all the way back to the beginning, is the book "Amtrak by the Numbers 2" from White River Productions. Dave Warner is a co-author on that one.

On-Track On-Line is  used by the ABTN-2 authors to supplement information in their book.  ABTN-1 and -2 have MANY photos to show what all the text in the books is talking about.   OTOL is used for information update and ,used together, will give the reader a very good idea of Amtraks equipment.
