Passenger Trains > Surfliner Car Name Changes & Trades?Date: 03/08/25 20:38 Surfliner Car Name Changes & Trades? Author: tehachapifan Found info that indicates a number of Surfliner cars had car name changes and, in at least one instance, the names got flip-flopped on two cars. This was 6303 that was initially San Timiteo Canyon and
6306 that was initially San Francisquito Canyon. Later they apparently flip-flopped names. Why on earth would this happen? Date: 03/08/25 21:18 Re: Surfliner Car Name Changes & Trades? Author: PHall tehachapifan Wrote:

Why not just leave it? dan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > cars get overhauled at the same time? I suppose this would make sense if they went for repaint and/or relettering and they forgot which was which. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/08/25 22:19 by tehachapifan. I believe it was when they were originally built and the screw up happened at the builder. Date: 03/09/25 14:49 Re: Surfliner Car Name Changes & Trades? Author: Topfuel To take this further, why did they ever name some of these cars for places that are not even on the Surfliner routes?

I thought when they were delivered, they didn't have names - they were applied later. <edit> found this...https://www.on-track-on-line.com/amtkrinf-pacsurfnames.shtml From 2000 to 2008 they had no names.
