Could also be an Amtrak car deadheading to Chicago for train service there which is commonly added to the LSL at the beginning of the week.

Just viewed the Fairport railcam. P049 went west at 2327 with what appears to be NYC 3 carrying the markers.  If the drive between Depew, NY and North East PA is 1:20, and P049 departed BUF at 0053, I estimate it wll pass the cameras at the Lake Shore Railway Museum around 0213 ... give or take a few. P049 passed the Museum at 0207, Erie is the next station.

NYC 3 out of Chicago on the rear of 7(11). Rearmost means St Paul or Portland bound. Seattle would be behind the power.
