Date: 03/10/25 18:24 Re: Amtrak train numbers in the 1000s Author: DavidP Seems like this year they only applied the 1000-series to routes where multiple trains with the same number would be operating simultaneously - for example, the two day western trains. I was on 48 Saturday evening and it ran with it's usual number, but on a schedule that added an hour to each stop after 2am Sunday.

This was before they put a special schedule for the day, we loose an hour, but in the fall no schedule adjustments are needed as trains just set an wait for an extra hour of padding, first time I noticed in the east this time. You maybe right sunset starlight on the UP regular. Others say it is amtraks computer software, growing into a more established practice these days, others have said it may be done on other lines but not publicly displayed...
