_ with bus transportation provided. The buses will depart
_ New Orleans (NOL) approximately 6 hours late.

poor Sunset. It just seems to not get a break. And how is service going to be provided west of San Antonio if the equipment remains in NOL?

There are parallel rail lines from NOL to HOS.  It is called the SP and MP.  As usual Amtrak lies down lets the operating railroads run right over them.  

It could be no qualified crews over a detour route. Or, more likely, the detour misses intermediate stations.

Or railroads have no pilots available or said no due to congestion?

They do hold all of the cards.  What are you suggesting, Amtrak try to run the train even after the railroads that own the tracks, and would have to provide the pilots crews tell them no?   That sound like a great plan! (sarcasm)
