Passenger Trains > 3/11/2025: New Jersey Transit Mainline

On Monday March 10, 2025 I visited the New Jersey Transit Mainline.

Here’s a sampling of some of the more interesting trains. All the photos were taken in Waldwick, New Jersey.

1. Metro North F40PH-3C 4913 leads Train 1247 westbound past the former WC Tower in Waldwick, New Jersey.
 
2. New Jersey Transit GP40PH-2B 4202 leads Train 1107 westbound on the New Jersey Transit Mainline in Waldwick, New Jersey.
 
3. Train 1147 lead by New Jersey Transit GP40PH-2B 4203 passes under the signal bridge in Waldwick, New Jersey

4. New Jersey Transit GP40PH-2B 4205 leads Train 43 westbound on the New Jersey Transit Mainline in Waldwick, New Jersey.

 
5. Metro North F40PH-3C 4911 leads Train 1249 heads westbound under the signal bridge in Waldwick, New Jersey.

 
6. New Jersey Transit GP40PH-2 4109 leads Train 1109 westbound in Waldwick, New Jersey. The locomotive is one of several New Jersey Transit Heritage units.

Great bunch of photos!! Waldwick is located on the combined trackage of the Main & Bergen County Line. Both lines operate as one line from Suffern to Ridgewood and then they separate until they rejoin again in Secaucus. Waldwick is a wonderful town to railfan. I like railfanning on the Main & Bergen County Line since you are often guaranteed to see an EMD made locomotive or two if you spend a few hours.
