That's who I immediately thought of once I saw the news. Posted from Android Date: 03/19/25 12:33 Re: Stephen Gardner Stepping Down Author: ronald321 The following statements from Gardner---and the Board--scared the hell out of me:
1. Gardner said he is stepping down -- "...to ensure that Amtrak continues to enjoy the full faith and confidence of this administration." What faith and confidence is he talking about? This administration wants Amtrak privatized,. and has call Amtrak "sad", and advised foreign visitors not to ride it. 2. The Board said-- "...we look forward to working with President Trump..." Have they forgotten, Pres. Trump sent Congress Zero Amtrak budgets? Date: 03/19/25 12:34 Re: Stephen Gardner Stepping Down Author: goduckies Good

Date: 03/19/25 12:53 Re: Stephen Gardner Stepping Down Author: PHall So Amtrak experts, what's is going to be your excuse now when things don't change?

I'd much rather be rid of Roger Harris - President. He is closer to operations and far more incompetent that Gardner, who at least has RR background.

full faith and confidence of this administration." My interpretation is that he was asked to resign. Now why can be disputed, but I believe Duffy and/or DOGE took a look at Gardner's bonuses and how they were the result of cutting service and other cuts in the organization leading to terrible performance and failure to respond to customer demand especially during peak travel seasons. Obviously others may have a different, more pessimistic view but I'm hoping new management will allow the system to keep running and improve it. Edited 1 time(s). I'll take my chances and let the next guy define himself. The current guy has done nothing positive for Amtrak. Date: 03/19/25 13:39 Re: Stephen Gardner Stepping Down Author: ronald321 I've never read the infamous "Project 2025".
Dose it make mention of Amtrak at all? This might give us the answer as to what might lie ahead for Amtrak. Date: 03/19/25 13:46 Re: Stephen Gardner Stepping Down Author: scraphauler ronald321 Wrote:
