Passenger Trains > Anybody know what's up with #6?Date: 03/19/25 14:46 Anybody know what's up with #6? Author: OmahaTom Amtrak 6 has been stopped west of Lincoln, NE since early this morning and the only update I can find is a service disruption due to crew change hours. We did get a MASSIVE snow storm here in Nebraska today. I wonder if they simply cant drive a new crew to the train. Anyone know anybody on board?

Author: OmahaTom Just learned that #6, which has been stopped in Exeter, Nebraska due to heavy snow covering the main east of there, is now back-tracking to Denver, where it will be combined with tomorrow's #6. Tomorrows #6 is currently holding in Denver for the route to be cleared of snow in eastern Nebraska. Passengers on the first #6 had the option of getting off the train in hastings to be "bused to lodging", or they could stay on the train back to Denver to try again when they combine the two trains and the line opens. What a mess!

Author: G600DRVR I think it's funny how so many people whine and complain when Amtrak cancels trains early due to expected weather. Especially citing things were better in the old days. Then something like this (or the 12 late 22 that I was on) happens. Exactly what Amtrak is trying to avoid.

It seems to be lose/lose either way. Amtrak cancels the train as a preventive measure and people cry wolf. Or, Amtrak runs the train as scheduled and this could be the worst case outcome. The train and passengers gets stranded, crew times out, relief crew on the way also gets stranded. And there's proof from people in the region willing to brave the elements and share what they see.
