Small plane crash on the tracks. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/11/25 10:27 by Typhoon. Date: 04/11/25 10:41 Re: What’s going on in Miami ? Author: wabash2800 It appears the mess you see on the tracks is an automobile that was hit by the plane and pushed onto the tracks.

Author: twropr Cessna Crash Shuts Down Amtrak in South FloridaOn April 11 at about 10:20 am, three people aboard a small Cessna 310 were killed after the aircraft crashed in Boca Raton, Florida, near the city's airport, fire rescue officials said. Since debris from the accident covered South Florida Rail Corridor’s tracks, Tri-Rail service was suspended between Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton, with a bus bridge ferrying passengers between the stations. Amtrak, however, canceled Floridian 40, terminated Silver Meteor 97 in Orlando and Floridian 41 in Tampa. There is a wye just north of Magonia Park, which I believe,Tri-Rail uses for turning its equipment. This begs the question as to why Amtrak could not have run #41 and #97 to the joint Amtrak/Tri-Rail West Palm Beach station, turned the equipment on the wye and staged the equipment for the next departures of #40 and #98. To get its passengers to/from Deerfield Beach (and beyond), Amtrak could have either use a train with locomotives on each end (there is a major maintenance facility at Hialeah – near Miami station) with their own bus bridge, or put passengers on Tri-Rail.

Amtrak can take the Little River connection / Iris used by Tri Rail and FEC freight to the FEC main. At Northwoods in West Palm Beach, the new Northwoods connector links FEC to CSX at 25th street. It is a one mile backup. Lots of work, would need several pilots, may need agreements. Could be useful to have a detour agreement in place. He got a call Friday night that their train was canceled. He and his wife managed to get a Frontier flight this morning, Saturday, so as not to ruin their week to the Keys. Hard to believe their train, scheduled to run through Florida on Sunday, was canceled Friday.

On Amtraks part yes indeed. The call was from Amtrak warning them they were 'deleted'. They tried to no avail reaching out to customer service for more updated pertinent information.
