Passenger Trains > A Journey in TimeDate: 04/11/25 19:12 A Journey in Time Author: scraphauler April's "A Journey in Time" Dinner Train is seen in Pinehurst NC on Friday 4/11/25 on its trip north with ACWR 103 bringing up the markers. We rode last night, menu shown, and it was superb as always. Video shows train on its return south an hour or so later from same area, just other side of track. A Journey in Time dinner train runs once a month, Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoon. It boards in the wye in Aberdeen NC and runs up the ACWR Sandhills Sub through Pinehurst out to the community of West End NC, then reverses and returns to Aberdeen.

Sounds as if the orange and brown will be traded in for silver with a magenta band to match the diners. Here's a grab of the Summit View as it passed showing various test patches of silver. Dinner a train is slated to return in June. You board the train and are seated in the dome where you are served drinks and light appetizers and are then seated in the twin diner about 30 minutes or so into the trip.
Meanwhile, one of the money makers that allows for the dinner and other special trains holds in the yard in Aberdeen, with todays version featuring CSXT 1972 in trail. ![]() ![]() Date: 04/12/25 04:48 Re: A Journey in Time Author: cozephyr Great way to enjoy dinner aboard the diner. Thanks for sharing the menu. Looks delicious. Great to hear they'll be painting the full dome into ACWR colors.

Line is 25 MPH but the diner train isn’t going anywhere fast - goal is to pull back into Aberdeen as everyone is finishing desert and after dinner cocktails. The most “scenic” parts of the trip (the parts the general public and resort patrons - the people the train is marketed to - are interested in) are through the Pinehurst Resort and Pinewild Country Club. So a “leisurely” pace is observed through those areas. The still shots are just off the tee box of hole 9 of the Azalea course at Pinewild, while the video is off my patio with the 4th green of the Azalea just out of site to the left.
