Passenger Trains > Clean trainsDate: 05/07/25 18:50 Clean trains Author: Chessie1963 Good evening,
Over the past week I have observed (on webcams) a number of eastern trains. The Floridian and Meteor are very clean, every day. The Lake Shore looks good, too. I have not seen the Crescent or City of NOL, nor have I seen the Palmetto (I guess I could rewind). However, things have changed. I am not sure which washers are operating, but Sunnyside may be up. On the other hand. if the Builder is clean, that would mean Chicago is working. If any of you know the story, please share. Thank you. Date: 05/07/25 19:25 Re: Clean trains Author: illini73 The Seattle section of the Empire Builder is clean, the Portland section is not. We think this means the Seattle wash rack is working, while the Chicago wash is still under (re-)construction. Portland does not have a wash rack.

I raised the issue of dirty trains pointing out that I had just crossed the country (Zephyr and Floridian) and I said I had not seen a single clean train on my travels. She seemed to take it to heart and said she would bring it up "with staff". Maybe that's what did it? Maybe not. I saw #381 on the Galesburg webcam this morning and it looked pretty dirty.

Ever since Gardner left it seems to me Amtrak's becoming what it should be,a railroad again! Posted from Android Date: 05/07/25 19:44 Re: Clean trains Author: sethamtrak Train cams can be deceiving.......... Every train I see arriving and departing from Chicago is filthy with the exception of the Chief (LA wash working), Zephyr (Oakland wash working) and the Seattle section of the Builder (Seattle wash rack working). Lakeshore, Floridian, Cardinal, City, all completely filthy.

Date: 05/07/25 23:29 Re: Clean trains Author: mp51w The SW Chief had an extremely dirty coach on the rear(313 car) two days ago!
It still had the car numbers set for the Empire Builder, so they must have pulled it off that train. Date: 05/08/25 00:41 Re: Clean trains Author: dan i saw it on #4 last friday thru colorado
Date: 05/08/25 05:34 Re: Clean trains Author: nsrlink Most days, the Crescent continues to be a filthy excuse for a "train."
Date: 05/08/25 06:21 Re: Clean trains Author: ronald321 When I personally witnessed those "Mud Trains" on the
NEC last Summer, I took pictures of them, But, for some reason---my pictures made them look much cleaner. I did not post them because they did not reflect what I saw with my own eyes. Any camera geeks know why this is? Date: 05/08/25 06:25 Re: Clean trains Author: cutboy1958 Correct me if wrong. New washer in New Orleans? See no results from it yet.
% years ago in Oklahoma ity there was a mobile car washer. On tires. Looked pretty new . Not unlike what was at ABQ for years only smaller and newer. Still there?? Amtrak could use 5 more of them. But I would say Amtrak is right now just interested in survival. Date: 05/08/25 06:43 Re: Clean trains Author: jp1822 Lake Shore Limited was "ok" when I rode earlier this week. It definitely had been through some sort of cleaning somewhere. I didn't see Chicago washer operational though and there were plenty of dirty trains in the Chicago Amtrak Yard. The Lake Shore Diner's windows could have been cleaner, but it was much better than it had been. The Empire Builder - absolutely filthy on the Portland section. The Seattle section was "ok" also but not the greatest, but it had been through some sort of a wash. So I would bet that Seattle has a working washer and Sunnyside.

The dirty window situation is absolutely disrespectful! On recent journeys, I saw passengers washing their windows. A dirty workplace is disrespectful and offering dirty windows as part of your "service" is disrespectful. PERIOD. Date: 05/08/25 07:35 Re: Clean trains Author: ronald321 longliveSP
You bashed our fellow fan, Dan, as---"More sensationalism and innuendo" This is the bashing Mantra you usually reserve for me. Should I be jealous? Date: 05/08/25 09:26 Re: Clean trains Author: Amtrak-P42 Crescent and Cardinal are FILTHY trains. Its borderline impossible to see out of them.
Date: 05/08/25 11:41 Re: Clean trains Author: Trainatic I can report from last week the City of New Orleans train was very filthy outside. Couldn't hardly see out the windows. Also inside the car, there were things broken that need to be fixed. I called Amtrak and gave them the list. I wonder if it ever does any good, but one can hope.

How does that rise to the level of being criminal? Date: 05/08/25 11:58 Re: Clean trains Author: longliveSP ronald321 Wrote:

You need to learn to read. What exact criminal statue (and in what legal jurisdiction) is being violated by dirty trains, as is being claimed by dan? |
