At 10:24 am, MDT, several rail workers appear to be inspecting the forward truck of a tank car mid-train of the non-clearing eastbound oil train that the dispatcher routed on the main line at Rocky.

confirmed derailment, one axle, one truck is all ? they are going to cut the train and bring in some heavy equipment

to bad they didn't use the rear dpus and clear the main so #5 could go west- no logic

bnsf train, drama all on the cam, you can watch

Well they were working for a few days on the big 10.  UP maintains big 10 with 3 or 4 maintenance blitzes a year, I just notice the slow orders mostly .   10 mph between the blitzes and high wind warnings half the time it seems.  This week they may have got 2 inches of rain, coupled with soft ballast contribute?

everyone is dumbfounded why the dpu's did not pull enough cars back west to next siding west to help Amtrak go west at 930 am.  poor decision making cost Amtrak almost 9 hours late.   Why UP?

attk pac got to the station all day, they didn't starve

The Rocky Mountaineer arrived in view of VRF camera at Eisele at about 3:40 pm MDT.  The BNSF oil train started to move eastward at about 3:42 pm MDT; but soon stopped east of the east end of Rocky siding about  7 minutes later. About 4 minutes later , the BNSF oil train began to move eastward, slowly. MOW equipment is now on rails working on the single track between the west end Rocky and the east end of Eisele. The Rocky Mountaineer stands still at Eisele on the main track at 4:05 pm MDT.

The Rocky Mountaineer excursion train began to move eastbound at 5:17 pm MDT. It proceeded slowly downhill past watchful rail maintenance of way workers, and passed safely through the siding at Rocky.
