Passenger Trains > Interlocking Tower in PiecesDate: 09/07/04 01:07 Interlocking Tower in Pieces Author: hmd929 I noticed that the new Amtrak maintenance facility in Oakland
is coming along nicely. However at the east end of the facility there is a hopper car that contains pieces of the old "Interlocking Tower" that used to be right by CP Magnolia. What are they going to do with this tower? It would be considered an historic landmark, but it looks like it has been completely destroyed. I know that "all the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't put Humpty together again", but can someone reassemble that tower? If so, perhaps a transfer to the Sacramento Railroad Museum would be in order. Howard Dean Alameda, CA Date: 09/08/04 02:44 Re: Interlocking Tower in Pieces Author: Evan_Werkema hmd929 Wrote:

That's why the tower is going to Portola instead. > If so, perhaps a transfer to the Sacramento Railroad Museum would be in order. CSRM already has the preservation of Elvas Tower on its plate. Has anything recent happened in terms of moving/stabilizing/securing Elvas or is it still sitting boarded up in the middle of the wye?
