Amtrak's State House in the Illinois Snow (Weather Cont
Author: MAW66

On a cold, snowy January 27th of this year, a late northbound State House is stopped in Godley, IL, not too far from the Braidwood nuclear plant. P42DC #92 is on the point.

Is this the route that is eventually to get the 110mph running? Or is it the Hiawathas, or both?

This is the Chicago-St. Louis route, which has seen high-speed test runs within the last year or so. IIRC, I think the tests were well south of this location, like around Normal. I don't know what the status of the line is at this time, but UP crews were upgrading many of the grade crossings last time I was out there.

Godley is about 10 miles north of Dwight, and about 50-60 miles southwest of Chicago.
