Passenger Trains > #1 stuck at Maricopa due to IRIS wreck

Amtrak should be in Bus Mode for the next few days

#1 returned to Tucson and passengers will be bused to LA.

What is the IRIS wreck ? A UP Train ?

Right. It's the first siding east of Niland. (Niland is the junction of the branch down to Calexico.)

The error might be related to the GPS on the AMTK units.

Ehhhhh, hopefully it will all be cleared up by the 19th. I am supposed to be riding the Sunset Limited from LA to Mobile on the 19th. I am praying that there is no flooding, no bus riding, no derailments, no locomotives with problems, and also I hope that we are no more than 10 hours late. I have had all of these problems before while riding the sunset limited and don't ask why I am riding it again. lol

I belive your expectations of Amtrak's service to be too high. One or more of those failures will occur, and I'm willing to bet $50 on it.

I'm also betting that you are slightly masochistic.

I *know* the train crew from Los Angeles will be something special.

You can leave LA on time and still be that late into Pomona.

Actually when I lived next to the Alhambra Sub, #2 would pass by my apartment at about 11:00PM regularly-making it right on time. The only exception I noticed was when Amtrak didn't have a spare set at LA, so if #1 came in really late, it would delay the departure of #2.

I leave LA this coming Friday night for a roundtrip to Orlando. Every trip is an adventure! A complete story will be on my web site when I return.

I have not seen any reason given why bus(ses)didn't
pick up the remaining pax at MRC, rather than spend
still more time backtracking to TUS.
