Santa Fe Valley Passenger train question...

Does anyone remember or know how the Santa Fe crewed its passenger trains on the Bakersfield and Stockton Subs pre Amtrak?

Did they change crews at Fresno?

Was there a separate through pool?

How well did it work?

Engine Crews worked Richmond-Stockton, Stockton-Fresno and Fresno-Bakersfield.
