Suppose amtrak gave a bar-b-que and nobody came?
Author: FallinFlag

today(7-21-05)amtrak had an employee bar-b-que at the new kirkham st. yard to celebrate 200 + days of injury-free work. well the moral is so low that the only people too show up where supervisors-pressuer, sheldon, & deely(probably with bodyguards). you know its bad when a railroader pass up free food. more bad news for the brain trust=guess what yard conductor got his job back with a years backpay? plus he's sueing them also. boy deely, you really taught him a lesson.

Say what?

Railroaders never pass up a free meal. Well, I guess they would if they saw the hook and line attached to it...

Crashela
Morale has gone into negative territory.
The beatings will continue until it improves.

Kirkham st.? That is Oakland right? I would have gone for sure if someone made a thread about it. Food and trains always was a good combo in my book. ; - )

You could probably pass for an employee anyway.

Most T&E people wouldn't trust Joe Deelwart and Diaper Boy to give them the time of day, why would they trust them to prepare food? But seriously, considering the safety awards that used to be given out, such as jackets, bags, etc., a measly barbecue in the middle of a weekday (when 80 percent of the workforce is out on the road anyway) doesn't cut it. I guess it's the same management mentality that strives to fire conductors for such small service standards violations as wearing a white shirt with pinstripes or having a slightly loosened tie after standing on the platform for half an hour and handling the checked-bags in Bakersfield in 100+ degree weather -- meanwhile there aren't even enough conductors or engineers in Oakland to fill all the jobs, so on a daily basis people get paid a whole day of overtime to work on their days off, or collect 3 hour's pay both ways from Sacramento, plus milage, only to die on the law before reaching the destination (and even with that, the jobs can't all be filled). Plus, two conductors are retiring from SAC. There go two more people from the Oakland board. That will bring it down to two or three.

Glad to hear you're coming back, John. Someone needs to stir-up the shit again.

Interesting your talk about the safety awards of tee shirts etc. Our next door neighbor is a railfan and the son of a SP hog head who worked out of Stockton/Tracy many moons ago---he is 64 so you know what time frame I am talking about. HOgheads son Wayne, our neighbor, retired 2 years ago as a steam fitter in Stockton--------he wears red tee shirts, he has a zillion of them------every time his company had safety award to bestow, guess what, red tee shirts---------Wayne will go to his grave in red safety award tee shirts--------he is a widower and I predict that should he find a new wife, and he should because he is a really great guy, the first thing new wife will do is burn his supply of red tee shirts! If she doesn't, I will point her in that direction!! :-)

taxpayers lose again. With all cost involved the returning Conductor will get all back pay plus any civil damages. Plus the cost to the Amtrak for all the investigations. $l00,000+, then the civil suit? The company cost to fight that? And the other fired conductors soon to come back. Our congressmen need to know about this. Know wander Congress wants to bag Amtrak. Come on Mr. Gunn How much longer is this going to go on?

Hey crystal, it's nothing new. Gunn loves it, or he wouldn't keep such moronic abusive bast**** for managers. By the way, you guys did it wrong. You know the FDA wan't around to inspect the barbeque so all of you should have shown up, stuffed yourselves silly until you puked, then all marked off with food poisoning.

why is it that the Sacramento and Oakland area get such managers that will get rid of their morals, integrity? Its a instant change in the transaction from engineer to manager. But Why? Their mothers and fathers would be so ashamed.
