International Railroad Discussion > Recent Downunder G&W RepaintsDate: 01/19/14 18:25 Recent Downunder G&W Repaints Author: AussieGWAdriver Hi all,
A few recent Genesse & Wyoming repaints from downunder. 1. Recently overhauled and repainted Clyde/EMD/MK rebuild, AT26HC-2M no. CLP16 leads CLP8, GM40, 2212 and 2207 as they cross the River Murray at Murray Bridge with 2182 loaded grain from Tailem Bend in South Australia on 1/19/14. This was the first run of this engine since being released last week. 2. The same train climbs the 2.2% grade at Callington. 3. 1971 built Goodwin/Alco DL500G rests outside the Islington Workshops in fresh paint after overhaul on 12/17/13. The unit was still undergoing load tests and final checks as you can see the cables coming out of the engine door which are hooked up to the green load box. The load box itself was made using dynamic brake components from retired C636/M636 Alco's from the Pilbara region. Idle curiosity on my part. TIA! ...Lorenzo Date: 01/19/14 19:29 Re: Recent Downunder G&W Repaints Author: AussieGWAdriver It would have been heading to the balloon loop at Outer Harbour although sometimes they head to Port Adelaide.

It has a third box girder section like the one on the right out of view to the right as well. This bridge was built in 1925 and replaced the combined road rail bridge (on the left out of view which is still a road bridge) which was built in 1879.
