Emerging to the light of day
Author: africansteam

After far too many years I am finally getting around to labeling my slide and negative collection. Here are a few images from my first trip to India. All from Ahmedabad.

Steam was winding down on the Indian Railways meter gauge in 1997, but YP 4-6-2’s and YG 2-8-2’s still held sway, even as they were being held together with baling wire.

1. The shops were doing the best they had with what little they had. Safety, as always was a concern.

2. Looking after the retirees.

3. Time table over the booking window

4. Resting over the drop pit, a YP Pacific hot and ready to go.

5. How do you say Hubba-hubba! in Hindi?

6. Fill’er up.

Cheers,
Jack
