Cheers, Jack Date: 10/30/14 15:42 Re: Asset writedown to scrap value Author: mmciau Use the locomotives until no longer economically viable/sustainable. Drag them off the system into a dirt compound and shred them into little bits suitable for the smelter.

Date: 11/10/14 14:31 Re: Asset writedown to scrap value Author: JGFuller Common practice in North America is to rebuild units after 20-25 years, providing another 20-25 years of productive use. Units are stripped to the frame, rewired with latest technology, new or rebuilt traction motors, rebuilt trucks, probably new prime movers and main generator/alternator, rebuilt air brakes - at about 1/2 the cost of a new unit.
More EMDs are rbuilt than GEs. Date: 11/14/14 23:43 Re: Asset writedown to scrap value Author: E25 Man... that Hitachi rig should be nick-named "T-Rex!"
