International Railroad Discussion > Iron Ore MinesDate: 07/17/15 17:56 Iron Ore Mines Author: pedrop Hi, a discussion for ore mines. I start with Socoimex iron ore mine in Barão de Cocais, MG. It is served by Vale (EFVM) narrow gauge system. The the pics were taken from the passenger train that cross the huge pit. Note a train in the trim of the pit in the first picture.

Pics were taken on 8/12/2009 during the vist of the american railfan Whilliam (Bill), that we see here taken pics of an empty ore train passing by the loading facility bound to another mine along the tracks. Paraopeba line has many loading facilities.

I was not aware of this operation, nor the way in which the railway passes over the mine pit on that bridge. Absolutely spectacular!
