Brazil / Brasil: Trem de Guararema: Inauguration of Steam Service
Author: Milepost_130

In Brazil, on October 24, 2015, "Trem de Guararema" will initiate service utilizing Central 353, 4-6-2 (BLW 59736 / 1927), 3-cylinder, broad gauge (1.6 meters). I am rather certain this locomotive is a wood-burner.
From the Trem de Guararema website: "Central 323 is now the largest serviceable steam locomotive in Brazil."
"The three passenger cars which will be hauled by Central 353 are of English origin.  One was made in 1896 by the firm Metropolitan Amolgd Car & Wagon Co.[sic] and two in 1937 by the firm Birmingham Railway Car & Wagon Co."
"The train will operate between Guararema Central Station and Vila Luis Carlos, a distance of 6.8 km."

Guararema - São Paulo is approximately 65 km east of São Paulo International Airport (GRU). "Central" = "Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil" See: http://www.abpfguararema.dreamhosters.com/wp/

That seems wierd... Having a high-wheeled Pacific as a wood burner?...

Most preserved steam locomotives in Brazil burn wood.

The narrow gauge (76cm) Baldwin collection of former EFOM burns oil. The old steamers of former Teresa Cristina rwy (EFDTC) burn coal.
