The one railway I wished I had gotten too before it all went to crap....first with severed sections of washed out track, followed by re-birth with only modern passenger stock. Was there ever any word on damage sustained by this year's earthquake?

I love to see pic of other countries and the people.
Too bad going to Ecuador now is not a good thing.

Thank you Chris.  Andersonb109 I know so little about the current situation.  I am sorry.

Hello Hirou!

Your wonderful pictures are from the Dave Goodheart tour during the first week of September 1995. I was with you. There were ten of us. It was an outstanding trip. You were very enthused over the last photo of the day on the Devil's Nose and you called it your "Hot Saki Shot".
Hope you are doing well.

Enclosed are two shots from that trip.
The first is our train on Nariz del Diablo taken by hiking on the opposite hill side.
The second picture shows us all in the coach after that climb. You are the last one on the right with the sunglasses.

Ah, the late Dave Goodheart with his signature cigar and that appears to be his sidekick, Victor.

Really wanted to ride the train while I was living in Ecuador but never got the chance. I saw the steam engines at the shops in Duran but they weren't active whenever I saw them. I did get to see their diesels and railbuses in action a few times. Thanks for posting the photos, nice reminders of my time in Ecuador.
