A tribute to the GT26´s (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Due to acquisition of new locomotives from Ge and EMD, specially the EMD GT46 and SD70BB, fca / VLI scrapped many locomotives in the last three years. Among them are the fashionable GT26´s that fca received from EFVM (Vale narrow gauge system). If I recall correctly, just one survived in Brazil. Some were sent to Mozambique to attend Vale coal project there. In this thread I will post pics of these fashionable units working in diverse kind of trains here. I really missing them. The GT26´s groups were built by three builders:
EMD (USA): GT26CU-2 2950 to 2953

Macosa (Spain): GT26CU-2 2954 to 2981

Villares (Brazil). GT26CU-2 2982, GT26CU-MP 941, 943, 945,  946, 947, 948, 949. fca intended to renumber them into the 2983 to 2988

This last group had the most modern units equiped with micro processors and desk throtle
