Keikyu 1000 series kitbashed
Author: Railpax71

There's a prototype for everything. I remember the Walters catalog shorty business car on a single six wheel truck. I found this Keikyu 1000 series along the road to Akagiyama just out of Maebashi, Gunma, Japan. The owner had chopped the cab end and mounted it on a short length of track over one truck just like the shorty business car. This appears to be the cab variant without a pantograph? As kitbashed fits in two parking spaces!

The Keikyu Main line trains are the 3rd fastest in the Tokyo area. When two pass at 75mph they really hammer each others doors and windows. Used to it now but first time was quite a startling experience. I take them from Toei Asakusa A18 to Keiyu Yokosuka Chuo KK59. They still run painted in this scheme though the last 1000 series ran in 2010.

Interesting, especially when I don't recall any Keikyu 1000s in service near Gunma, like how the old Keio 3000 series are running on the Jomo Line. I wonder what relations he had with Keikyu? Employee? Lived or went to school near the line?

"Chopped cab" is commonly used at some railroad facilities for simulator training (EF65 at Tokyo Freight Terminal, I think), and also at railroad museums for similar purposes. Nice to see the personal museum!

Is this a Keikyu museum? They followed the theme even further into the shop with a miniature cab.
