Moka Railroad (Japan)
Author: Railpax71

The Moka Railway connects Shimodate Station, in Chikusei, Ibaraki and Motegi Station in Motegi, Tochigi. After a TO member in an earlier thread asked about a train station shaped like a steam locomotive, I drove to Moka, Tochigi to take some pictures. as it is a holiday today, one of their steam locomotives was also operating.

#1 Museum is housed in a similar styled building
#2 South end of the two story station
#3 Window shaped to look like a driver

Good to see a nicely preserved engine that appears to look about how it did when it was in regular service. Here is a picture of an engine in the same class taken in 1963 at Haiki, Nagasaki Prefecture. Thanks for the pictures and info, certainly an interesting bunch of buildings.

Darn good "rapid response report" with C11 steam action, too!

They should build a RR museum like that in the USA. Great photos.

Thank you for sharing these pics!  This Moka Museum station is another fine example of how the Japanese never cease to amaze me in their creativity. They're always on the "right track".
