MRS coal train (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, a video of the coal trains MRS railroad (broad gauge) is running between the Rio de Janeiro port and Acominas Steel Co. in Ouro Branco, MG. Nice when they are leaded by the old C30-7's as we see here.

Note: FCY is the railroad code for the town of Carandai, MG.

Are you sure they aren't coal fired ? They're generating enough smoke to qualify under Trump's new "Clean Coal Guide Lines".

Did I miss Something ? Where is the EOTD (FRED) ??? Not required in Brazil ?

No, not required. In my area, only VLI use EOT. Vale and MRS use other system to check the end of the train. Their system count the axles of the train, from the leading locomotive to the last car.

Neat video. One thing that sticks out is that footbridge with the MRS logo, colors, and fresh paint. Can't think of any railroad I've seen in the US that would do something like that. (And in Chicago, I can sample most of them.) If you come across a footbridge, or actually most bridges, they'd be covered in rust with peeling paint. That even applies to lines where the railroad runs commuter service.

Hi, yes MRS uses to take care of all footbridges and pedestrian walkway along its tracks.
Below, a picture of the leading unit below the footbridge. The locomotives started to smoke as they speed up to climb the small grade that starts at that poit.
