International Railroad Discussion > Abandon NDM Torreon-Saltillo Branch Passenger SpecialDate: 01/28/18 16:43 Abandon NDM Torreon-Saltillo Branch Passenger Special Author: mundo 1970, Great Western Tours operated a three week special train in Mexico and visited the wine county town of Parras on the now abandon Torreon-Saltillo Branch line.
The branch was light rail about 62 lb with very old light tonnage bridges. In order to reduce weight of two F units, a coach was placed between the units. Here have NDM 7012 during the layover at Parras. Date: 01/28/18 16:53 Re: Abandon NDM Torreon-Saltillo Branch Passenger Special Author: ATSF97 Superb !. Thanks for sharing

As information, the ex-UP twin unit diner owned by GWT still exists, as it went thru several private owners and eventually ended up with American Orient Express/Grande Luxe. The 2 cars are now owned by an individual and stored in Denver, CO. It was the other pair of this order for the City of Denver that ended up with the kitchen dorm half being eventually sold for scrap, and the dining room half ending up as part of the Railroader Restaurant chain. That car still exists today as part of a restaurant in Indio, CA. |
