The engineer is a well known guy here and he said he was entering a siding with a couple of dash 9 running empties in a low speed when he saw the guy sleeping on the tracks. If the guy chose mainline tracks to sleep we would be in another world know...

The engineer said he used the horn and bell for a couple of minutes but the guy didn' wake up, so he climbed down and shake the body of the guy to see if he was dead or alive. The guy woke up and he helped him to go outside the tracks. The guy walked a few feets outside the tracks and fall again in a safe position, so the engineer went back to the locomotive and went away.

Definitely drunk? Not a bicycle accident?

Back during my years in N&W Rwy. management, I was doing some work at one of the dispatching offices. While I was there, the railroad had an incident where a drunk went to sleep on the tracks with both legs laying across one rail. Of course he had no legs when he came to. Stuff like that is surprisingly common.
