Sahara Mauritania Railway
Author: sphogger

National Georgraphic has posted an outstanding short film on YouTube

"This Sahara Railway is One of the Most Extreme in the World"

Incredible.  Nomadic tribes, Camels and the unmistakable sound of EMD and SD-70's.

Saw it as well. Very well done, and at only 12min left me wanting for more. Highly recommend it.

Also watched recently here in Australia. The loading/unloading of the goats and sheep off the gons filled with iron ore was interesting.
Watched another doco last week called Extreme train journeys.Went from Morocco over into Libya, then south into the Sahara. At one stage everyone got off the train to help shovel sand off the RoW.
Fascinating part of the world.

The juxtaposition of two modes of transportation, one ancient, one modern is impressive.
