Interesting to say that these units do not have bathroom. The GT46 demonstrators that arrived in Brazil from Chile also did not have bathroom, but VLI railroad asked for a bigger cab with bathroom inside. The new GE ES43BBi have a bathroom outside and behibd the cab.

Also FCAB practice to specify Polycarbonate instead of glass

They retrofitted the fleet with Polycarbonate windows in 2012/2014

I went to Chile back in ‘04 for a few weeks and never experienced any sketchiness. Has that changed? For reference we went pretty much the entire length from Arica to Punta Arenas.
