MRS AC44i in the mud after the tragedy (Brazil)

Almost three months after the collapse of the mud ore dam in Brumadinho, Brazil, the AC44i 3466 still buried in the mud. It was the second unit in the consist of an ore train in the loading pear. The leading unit was not found until now.

How much per pound does scrap steel bring in Brazil?  It appears that would be the only reason to dig it out.

I really do not know, but they are digging it out because it is necessary to clean the area in search of about 80 people still disappeared. 310 people lost their lives there.
