International Railroad Discussion > MRS and Vale testing ore trains without crew (Brazil)Date: 04/26/19 15:40 MRS and Vale testing ore trains without crew (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, due to the risk of new dam collapses in some mines here, Vale mining and MRS railroad are testing to operate the ore trains by remote control system. MRS is adding the system in 15 AC44i's and Vale in 6 BB40-9W's.

In MRS, the remote operating will be in a strech of 5km long. On Vale, it will be 7 km long. These are the streches of tracks that are in front of dam locations in risk of collapse. If they get sucess, maybe they can extend this section more. Are there any other people who will be killed when the dams collapse? And what about the damage to structures? And the ecological damage? Why don't they repair the dams? You'd think that it would make more sense to avoid the catastrophe in the first place.
Jim Maurer Date: 05/02/19 12:03 Re: MRS and Vale testing ore trains without crew (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, for sure they are repairing the dans, but it is thing that will take a long time since the dams are big and difficult to repair. For while, people are being removed from the risk areas nearby.
