Maria Bonita (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, while passing by the nice town of Jacutinga, MG I found this tiny steam engine preserved in the old railroad station. The name Maria Bonita reffers to a famous and beautiful lady that was the wife of Lampião, the most famous bandit that lived in the east of the country in the 1940's.
The tracks were removed from Jacutinga and other towns nearby in the end of 1980's. Almost all stations were preserved to the communities.
Jacutinga is a town famous by its cold winter and also by the cloth factories. Many people visit it to buy cloths direct from the factories and also to stay close the nature of the mountains nearby.
