Hi, today morning I got a nice meeting here in town. MRS broad gauge iron cast train met Vale mining coal at EVP yard. Enjoy

How many people in a crew is normal for these trains?

Hi, MRS uses 3 to 4 guys in these trains here since it is rule when operating in the tracks of other railroad to have an auxiliary to the engineer. The guys help to link the DPU units and do the switching in the yard. MRS has a window of 8 hours each day here, so they need more guys to do the switching operations fast to allow two couple of trains each day here (two loaded and two empties). Sometimes, they also use more crew here to train new engineers.

Interesting ... no FRED on the departing MRS train. Is that normal?

It has it, but it is small and you can not see it.
