New Zealand Railways G12.
Second, only to Brazil, the NZR had 146 units, getting its first order in 1955 from GMD in Canada, and EMD in the USA, (1400-1429) all with fabricated bogies.
In 1957 an order was placed with Clyde Australia, for another 10  with high-speed bogies.(1430-1439)
GMD Canada built the bulk of the rest from 1961-69 (1440-1545) five of the early units were converted for hump shunting at Terapa, in 1972.
5 of the class are in Preservation.
85 0f the class were selected for rebuilding, into the Dc class, at Clydes Rosewater plant South Australia.

I like G12 a lot. I remember the time they run as main power in the railroads here. Now they are yard switchers or workinig in MoW trains. Only EFDTC railroad use them as main power.

I remember seeing those on Commute trains in Auckland.I could watch from my cousins place on Remuera Road .

If you have a chance, open a thread to here to show us some of these slides. It is always nice to see old pictures.
At this time, Vale mining is sending four G12 to work as yard switchers in my area. Vale has the best G12 here in Brazil. Its maintenance team is of first quality.
