Hi, the MRS train with big tires arrived today afternoon. Train O181 came here with a consist of two set of five articulated well cars. In MRS they are classified in PRU class that means they can carry 125 tons each. I imagine a tire like this should cost some thousand dollars.

Given that the train is on Minas Gerais Railways, am I correct to presume these will be used for some sort of mining equipment?
 

Hi, yes sir. The tires were imported by Anglo American to a new mine near here. I've heard that other six  trains like this will come bringing more tires. Here is the link to a video of the mine. The ore is sent by a 529 km pipe system o the port.

look at how "compressed" those springs are on the truck of that well car.............

We had a major contract with Goodyear and the Topeka (KS) plant was in my geographic area, they made such tires. All the raw material
was rail in and tires were rail out (mostl) as well. At one point they greatly reduced their truck tire production to produce the hauler tires. A
few years ago there was a massive shortage of such tires. Those are neat pictures and reflect the importance of mining in your region.
