Rio de Janeiro 1987
Author: 86235

Came across this print whilst moving stuff out of the house before the builders move in. It was taken in Rio in July 1987 on the approach to Dom Pedro II station, that's the Maracana Stadium behind. The train is the overnight service from Sao Paulo, one of only a handful of long distance passenger trains, the stock is a rake of purpose built Budd stock, IIRC the loco is a locally built export model GE U20C. The 3kV DC electrification is for the extensive commuter trains in and out of Dom Pedro II.
