Author: Utahfannz

The U26C's have served our railroad well being a dependable workhorse, since there introdution back in 1972, after many overhauls and updates, they still soldier on,
and will for some years to come. all now in the South island of New Zealand, leaving the North Island in, in the hands of the predominate Chinese "DL" Class. To coin the "Dolly
Parton" song they have worn the "Coat of many colors".
Shot 1 "Dx"5477 with 4830.
Shot 2. "DX" in "Toll Rail " coat.
Shot 3. crossing, i was loco Engineer on 5016 and my son was Engineer on 5022.(Current color sceme)

Always loved their sound. Rode behind a pair of them over the pass on the south island in 2000 and the chug echoing off the canyon was glorious.

Love the pics, thanks for posting!

Excellent,!  All this rail action sitting at my kitchen table with my morning coffee! Thank you for the sharing. Father and Son on the job together, priceless!  Is the location of the horn unnerving to the crew? Is it effective facing down like that?
